The Shia Muslims live in over 50 different countries, mainly in Central and South Asia, Africa and the Middle East, as well as in Europe, North America and Australia. Between 180 million and 200 million Shias live in Asia, representing about three-quarters of the world’s Shia population. Meanwhile, nearly a quarter of the world’s Shias (75 million to 100 million) live in the Middle East-North Africa. As noted, Most Shias (between 68% and 80%) live in four countries: Iran, Pakistan, India and Iraq. In the India and Pakistan; Shia'as are in minority as compare to overall population. In four countries – Iran, Azerbaijan, Bahrain and Iraq – Shia Muslims make up a majority of the total population. There is strong Shi`i presence in Southeast Asia, and it is not simply a result of post-1979 events in Iran. It is rooted in a historical trajectory,especially of Islamic mysticism, or Sufism.Shiite Islam has deep rooted influence in present and history of India from North to South with various Shia Muslim dynasties ruling Indian provinces from time to time.
Shia's are in minority in Central Asia, Europe and transcontinental states. By Central Asia we presently reference seven countries: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. While this sub-region has fewer Muslims than South Asia or Southeast-East Asia, Muslims make up a much larger share of the population. Indeed, more than nine-in-ten people living in Central-Western Asia are Muslim; Shia percentage is around 10-15% but in some countries its much higher like Azerbaijan it has 80-85% of percent of the population follows "Shia Islam". Uzbekistan,Tajikistan & Kazakhstan has signficant shia muslims population. In Europe, There are large number of Shia live in Germany, France, Sweden, Bulgaria, UK, Georgia, Netherlands, Greece etc.
